Hair Tricks for Working Out

Mustering the motivation to exercise can already be tricky; don’t let your hair deter you from getting out and working out! It is easy for hair to become a hindrance during activities. Either falling into our eyes or flying about, the use of accessories and styling can help protect our hair, and patience! Below we have listed some of our favorite tricks for styling different hair lengths and at different skill levels.

Short Length

If your hair sits above your ears we consider this short. A little styling can go a long way to protect and maintain your hair for when the workout is done. Using clips like bobby pins and barrets can help achieve quick, held back looks that will keep your hair from flipping all around. Try twisting before pinning. This will set your hair out of your face and promote some waves and curl when taking out the pins. If clips aren’t your jam, headbands are also incredible to soak up sweat and keep flyaways at bay. Sometimes there is no need to wash your hair after each workout. Though sweat and oils will present themselves naturally, try J Beverly Hills Blue Dry Shampoo. This is a dry shampoo that will leave your scalp feeling fresh and absorb some of the oils produced while working out. Products and styling go a long way, try some of these tricks! Watch and see what works best for you.

Medium Length

Hair resting at and above the shoulders but below the ears is considered medium length. The styles we mention here can also be applied to longer length hair! Medium length is also great for pins, clips, and headbands however, there is more to pull up and back. Keeping bangs, layers, and flyaways at bay is no easy feat. Aside from accessories, styles such as braids and miny pony tails are fun and will pull back your pieces. Depending on the activity and style, try applying the Nourishing Masque from J Beverly Hills’ Platinum line. Before you work out, set your hair with this mask and wash everything out afterwards. This is a sneaky way to hydrate your hair while doing other activities.

Long Length

Following medium length, long length is everything below the shoulders. The longer your hair is, the more prone it is to breakage. Styles that reduce friction and strain on your strands are the best. Like medium length, braids are a great way to gently pull your hair back. Sometimes longer hair can weigh down styles, if looking to add a little oomf toss in some Lift Up styling foam by J Beverly Hills Blue. This product will lift your roots giving some volume. Even at the gym your style will look great while maintaining functionality.
