How to avoid split ends

What are split ends?

First, how do we know what we are looking for? Look at your ends, do you see any single hairs that at the bottom become two or more? This is a split end, it is when your hair follicle begins to separate from itself. Oftentimes this is found at the ends of your hair however, depending on how healthy you hair is, splits can begin higher on the strand. Split ends can be attributed to a couple of things: dryness, lacking nutrients, cold weather, and rough care. We are going to look at these contributing factors and ways to remedy them!

Dry air = dry hair

Moisture is one thing that makes our hair happy. It is what keeps the elasticity within the strand and allows for the follicle to fill out. When your hair strand is lacking moisture, its strength is lessened and it becomes more rigid. This can lead to it splitting and breakage and is something we want to avoid.

Lacking nutrients

Vitamin A, many of the B vitamins and vitamin C are some of the best for your hair. They promote growth and protect your hair from aging. If your hair seems dull or is slow growing consider changing your diet up a bit as well as search out products that put nutrients back in your hair like J Beverly Hills Platinum P Nourishing Masque.

The cold

If you have caramel and it is still pliable, it is much harder to cut, tear, breakthrough ect. When it hardens it becomes more brittle and can easily be chipped away. Your hair behaves in a similar manner. In cold temperatures your hair can freeze which leads the follicle to become rigid.

Rough care

Though our hair is relatively strong, we must care for it in a gentle manner to keep from unnecessary strain. When brushing your hair, don't rip through your ends, gently use little passes with the brush. This will lightly separate any knots you might find and reduce breakage helping our strands stay whole.

J Beverly Hills Platinum has the products you need to keep your hair happy. Both nourishing and moisturizing this lineup is your go to for rehabbing your hair.
