Styling Items

Bobby pins: Bobby pins are great for securing updos or using as statement pieces! A cute and simple updo using bobby pins is the twist bun. Grab a section of hair and twist either clockwise or counter clockwise depending on what feels best to you! As the twist becomes tighter, your hair will start to be pulled toward your head following the way you’re twisting. Once the spiral bun is formed, take the ends of your hair, or the tail, and slip it between the two tines of your bobby pin. From here you will use the bottom tine, grab a section of hair close to the scalp and slide the pin in securing the bun to your head. If it feels a little loose again grab some of the bun and some hair near the scalp and repeat across from your first pin. If you begin to need four or more bobby pins to hold your bun up you should untwist and try again. Once you’ve finished and are happy with your bun, spray a mist of B Hold Me Lite over your do. This will allow for some hold but, not too much, leaving your hair pliable if you must redo!

Rubber elastics: Little elastics are perfect for creating tight sections, as well as holding the ends of braids or little ponytails! These little helpers can be used in tandem with bobby pins to create perfectly sectioned buns. Before following the steps listed above, section your hair with a comb and create a pattern of ponies held by the elastics. Once you have your sections established you can follow the steps above and voila, you’ve got a new do! If you desire a longer lasting look, mist your hair with the B Hold Me Firm and then party your night away.

Statement barrets: Big barrets are all the rage, for function or a statement, this clip can take your updo to the next level. Ways to wear: Toss your hair up in a messy bun of sorts and clip in a barret underneath to catch flyaways or on the sides depending on what look you’re going for. Coming in a range of sizes, colors, and patterns these are a simple accessory that can transform your look.

Claw clips: Guess what, claw clips came back! These could be your updo’s base or also great for half up half down looks. Depending on the size of your clip you can gather your hair many ways. With a large clip you can start with a low pony and twist in towards your head, line your twist up the back of your head and secure the clip around it with the claws grabbing nearest your scalp. Depending on your hair length it might fountain over the clip, you may leave this or tuck in if you desire!

Scrunchie: Scrunchies are great because they don’t crease your hair. They are easy to toss in and can be styled many ways. Coming in a variety of colors and patterns they can take a bland do to the next level.

A final tip: Updos are best achieved when your hair is at least a little dirty. Don’t hop out of the shower and give yourself a blowout expecting it to help keep your hair up when you need it to. Visit us here today to grab B Hold Me Lite or B Hold Me Firm and keep your do up as long as you!
