Pops of Color

Natural tones are always a hit and while dyeing your hair can be many things, it is definitely a fun way to change up your look. Whether blonde, burnette, redhead, or any other, you can also add in a vibrant pop of color! We are going to take a look at haircare, health, products, and the like to see what it takes to rock a fashion color.

Health
Before any dye job, the integrity of your hair will play a big role in how well the color stays and the accuracy of the end result. When prepping for a dye, make sure your hair does not display signs of stress such as breakage and frailty. Depending on your natural color or previously dyed hair, the process for adding a fashion color may vary. The constant among all hair changes however, is quality hair health. 

Habit
When you have a fashion color and would like it to last, some changes may need to be made to your routine. Less frequent washes is a great place to start. As we have discussed in previous posts, everyone's hair is different and needs different types of attention. Washing less can help your scalp find its own balance of oil production and will keep colored hair lasting longer. Whether a fashion color or a different natural tone, cooler water is often recommended. This is because, like with our pores, warm water opens up the hair cuticle resulting in some color loss. Using cooler to cold water ensures the color will last longer.

How much you want to spend
Upkeep for fashion colors can be costly. Depending on how large sections are colored or where they are placed on the head, you might need more frequent sessions to keep your look. If you want to change your color all the way to the roots, regrowth becomes a concern. Regrowth is the hair that grows back post dye and is your natural color. A cost effective way to still get the fun look you desire is to place pops of color in underlying layers or further from the root. This will keep your trips to the salon less frequent while letting you play with a different do!
