Hairspray Hacks

There are so many beauty products; from creams and gels to aerosols and more, it can be overwhelming figuring out how to use each. Following are some tips and tricks on how to apply hairspray for your hair and beyond. 

First and foremost, hairspray is not a one type fits all situation. When using hairspray, the common goal is to promote longevity in your style. Try to avoid layering hairspray. You may definitely style with other products prior to spraying. Just don’t layer it on top of itself; this practice is a recipe for a crunchy and stiff look. However, if that is your goal, by all means, layer away! If not, we recommend reapplication instead of dousing your do the first time around. Another trick with hairspray is using it to tame flyaways. A light mist followed by a gentle pass of the hands will help your hair find its friends and reduce frizz. What do we mean by “hair finds friends”? Each head of hair has its own growth pattern. Strands grow and bend the same way as others nearby and when they find each other, they follow the same shape and reduce frizz. If using a heavier duty hairspray, hold the canister even farther from your head than you usually would. This will allow a light coating to fall on your strands and reduce stickiness.

Lastly, a non hair related hairspray hack. Use the stick to your advantage! Spray it on your glittery decor and ornaments to keep the shimmers in place and reduce a messy clean up.
